Dual-Component Structure for Selective Pollutant Decomposition via Photocatalysis
As the population increases, there will inevitably be a greater generation of waste, which necessitates the long-term need for waste treatment. A consequence of waste treatment facilities is the production of highly toxic gases. The purpose of this research is to develop a dual-component structure that will decompose select pollutants into value-added products while minimizing the production of less useful byproducts. Investigation of the decomposition of such compounds is beneficial as we seek to move toward a green economy, as some products of the decomposition reaction may be used as environmentally friendly sources of energy.
