Identifying Novel Low-Cost Current Collector Materials for Fuel Cells
Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) are devices that convert hydrogen and oxygen into water and electricity. Current collection is a big challenge for these devices because the electrodes are often porous making it difficult for the electrons to transport due to limited conductivity. An extensive literature review on microtubular SOFC current collection has been undertaken to analyze the most promising methods to improve electrode conductivity and reduce transport losses. SOFCs are manufactured to compare the impact of the current collector losses.
