A Self-Fluctuating Actuator Air Prosthetic Liner With Memory Foam Design for Lower Limb Amputees to Improve Comfort, Stability, and Fluctuation in Prosthetic Sockets:

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

The question being presented is could this device replace stump socks as well as socket fillers to help amputees with the constant volume fluctuation inside their sockets, rather fresh amputation, prolonged walking, or exercising. Amputees have faced these problems of comfortability and fluctuation for years. Caused by weight fluctuations, heat, exercising, sweating and or shrinking of the residual limb. These fluctuations can cause amputees detrimental harm to the skin or deadly infections like; tumors, fungal infections, and other skin disorders. With knowledge of being an amputee and research in this field, this could possibly help to better the quality of life for amputees.
