An Affordable Solution to EMG Prosthetics
Functional prosthetics cost anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 USD, making it difficult for many amputees around the globe to obtain the help they need to perform everyday tasks. The MYO-Integrated Hand Prosthesis project offers a fully functional, 3D printable prosthetic solution that can be made for under $300. The prosthetic is equipped with an electromyography (EMG) embedded armband that detects muscular signals in the wearer’s forearm, then transforms this data into user-defined hand positions. Future work may involve redesigning the project as a functional foot or leg prosthetic.
