Incorporation of Metal Nanoparticles in Polypyrrole Flexible Electrodes for Electrochemical Sensing of Dopamine

Electrochemical sensors are a powerful tool for real-time measurement of target analytes of significance for different fields including environmental monitoring, clinical diagnostics, or even food technology. Implementation of sensors may require flexible adaptation to challenging geometries, especially when considering online monitoring and in vivo applications. Conductive polymers are unique sustainable materials that can collect electrical signals from analyte-selective metal nanoparticles while providing a flexible framework that can be easily shaped. In this work, we explore the modification of flexible polypyrrole substrates that incorporate nanoparticles that improve the electrode sensitivity and sensing selectivity for sustainable applications.
