The Development of a Multi-Marker Sensor for Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
The research objective was to determine if electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) could be used to detect glucose and insulin simultaneously on a screen-printed carbon test strip. The glucose point-of-care (POC) test strip fabrication and optimization phase has been completed. Insulin POC strips have been fabricated and tested via EIS, but not yet optimized. This research will help patients with diabetes mellitus better manage their glycemic levels and adjust their treatment regimen. Further design of experiments (DOEs) are needed to optimize the insulin sensor protocol and fabricate the multi-marker sensor.
