The Effect of Deep-Level Reasoning Questions in Digital Learning Resources

Education icon, disabled. A purple mortarboard.

Previous research has shown that student comprehension is affected by organization of information, such as deep reasoning questions used as scaffolds. This study investigates the deep reasoning question effect with digital learning resources. Online participants will complete a pre-test, followed by a chapter of text focused on energy conversion. This will be followed by a post-test and perception survey. The research question will be evaluated by inserting equivalent content statements, shallow questions, and deep-level questions into the learning content. The hypothesis states that students will comprehend information best when presented deep-level questions regarding the learning content.
