Synthesis and Characterization of Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-4 (ZIF-4) Film

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

ZIF-4, or rather, zinc imidazolate framework – 4, is a metal organic framework that can be used for many purposes including separating mixtures through adsorption processes. One application of ZIF-4 is seen in the adsoprtion of carbon dioxide from air, and another application is its usefulness in the storage of methane for renewable energy. By determining the pore size of ZIF-4  samples, it is possible to determine the separation capabilities of ZIF-4. A recommendation for future work would be to use some kind of fibers intertwined with the ZIF – 4 in order to test how porosity levels may increase within ZIF-4.
