Optimization of Heat Transfer Through Cadmium Selenide Semiconducting Nanoparticle Structure Using Finite Element Modeling

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

Using Finite Element Method (FEM), the optimum heat transfer through Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) nanoparticles can be determined. This can be done through the use of computer software including MATLAB and Abaqus. Once the parameters for heat transfer are found, the structure properties of the CdSe can be tuned. The intent is to provide the ability to vaporize the surface layer of water without heating the bulk fluid. This is a more energy-efficient method for desalination of water.
