Effects of High Temperature Annealing on VO2 Phase Transition Temperature
In this study, the objective is to determine how annealing VO2 at high temperatures affects the phase transition temperature and the change in transmittance between the metallic and insulating phases. The transmittance of VO2 films doped with different levels of tungsten annealed at different temperatures was tested at a range of temperatures to determine this relationship. If the transition temperature could be lowered to ambient temperature, VO2 would be a more effective thermal control and could be used in smart window and spacecraft applications. In the future, higher annealing temperatures could be tested to further understand the relationship.
