Automatically generated aircraft wing structure

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

The goal of this FURI project is to analyze aircraft wing structure and use the results to construct an algorithm for automatically determining the optimal wing configuration for a given aircraft. The process of selecting the most effective wing structure involves comparing balsa wood build ups and a carbon fiber centered design, as well as the exact dimensions of each configuration. The design must withstand all expected flight loads, while minimizing wing deflection and weight. Fall semester research is focused on the comparison of various wing structures, while Spring semester will be spent developing the automatic wing design tool.
