The Concrete Canoe competition consists of student-led university teams who design, construct, present, and race a full-size canoe made of lightweight concrete. The ASU ASCE Concrete Canoe team will work for the semester to design a canoe hull that can hold up to four paddlers, track well in the water, and turn smoothly. The team will then design a concrete mix that meets minimum strength requirements, adheres to specified competition rules, has a density less than water, and has a consistency appropriate for placement on a mold. Future work includes constructing the canoe and competing in the regional conference.
