Jitendran Muthuswamy
Associate Professor, School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering
Jitendran (Jit) Muthuswamy is an associate professor in the School of Biological and Health System's Engineering and directs the Neural Microsystems laboratory. He is focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of pain transmission in migraine and neuromodulation approaches to mitigate migraine pain. He is also focused on methods and devices that interface with neurons and modulate their function under chronic conditions.
He obtained his BTech degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India and his Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. He did his post-doctoral fellowship in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. His research interests are in the areas of Neural interfaces and Neuromodulation. He is also an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Neuroscience, and PLOS One and emeritus Associate editor of IEEE Transactions of Neural systems and Rehabilitation Engineering.
